Why You Should Disable iCloud Photo iCloud Backup Failed - You Do Not Have 3 weeks ago   05:56

One of the new features in iOS called iCloud Photo Library is definitely not helping. This feature, while in theory, allows you to backup all of your photos and videos on any of your iOS or MacOS devices to the cloud, takes up precious iCloud storage and adds up really quickly. Most people I know have run out of storage just from iCloud backups (another issue I have with iOS, but I digress) so adding this is almost a sure-fire way to guarantee you run out of iCloud storage.

There is a better way though. I touched on this in a video a long time ago about backing up your photos and videos but think we need to revisit the concept. You should turn off iCloud Photo Library and instead use another free service like, say, Google Photos which automatically backs up all of your photos and videos in an unlimited quantity for free.

So here's how we do that.

Any photos in cloud services sound like a bad idea. There is a reason why Google offer this service for free because there are more gullible people like you in this world who don't want to spend money for their personal memories. Buy your own network drive and create your own cloud drive. It's cheap, safe and smart solution. Keep 4 backups..... You can get 4TB for dirt cheap price!!!!

Google sells your shit companies google is free because your the product they sell
Stop the Google propaganda. iCloud has privacy you can't get at Google.
I went back to storage on my own HD, external hard drive.
Unfortunately you should’ve kept reading because you’re only half right. Google is free but at a quality limit. When I take 4K video it’s only gonna be stored at 1080 P. If I wanted it to be stored at my cameras for quality I’m looking at a minimum of 1.99 a month. And also let’s not forget that Google monetizes all the data they acquire and Their awkward ties to the government which they’ve already relinquished an entire photo library at the governments request where Apple has stood toe to toe with the feds against relinquishing data.
Also iCloud photo library it’s not the feature that is an instigator your photos are solely the issue. Turning off iCloud photo library will not stop the photos from being backed up with a entire phone back up.
If you truly wanted to avoid cost and don’t want all your photos in the cloud. Your best bet would be to disable iCloud photo library and two also disable photos from being backed up when the phone backs up to iCloud. These options are in the settings and you can be specific on what his backed up to the cloud.
But you can leave on iCloud photo sink.
This will save A rolling catalog of your last 1000 photos for 30 days. Which on your PC or Mac at home you can enable iCloud to automatically download any photos that appear in the cloud keeping a local in for quality library that you no longer have to sync or pay for.
I myself use this option but I also pay for iCloud storage to back up elsewhere. Because as expensive as you make it sound I can do math and $12 a year to keep storage of my photos off site and safe is well worth the cost.
Specially when you consider data recovery cost are quoted in the thousands by most reputable companies. But whoever you are do your research but by all means at any cost back up your stuff.

Will it save up ur storage in phone??

I agree in principle, BUT what he leaves out is when you turn off CLOUD STORAGE in the Apple IOS, it deletes your photos from all devices. You MUST make sure any photos stored on your device BEFORE you turn it off.

Maybe good advice if all you take is selfies and garbage photos. If you’re serious about your photography, then spend a couple of bucks each month.
Thanks! Great concise summary video!
Google is the 😈 devil. Nothing is free.
